Positive behavior for learning.

Maths problem.

2. Eva, Tamati, Noah and Jo are looking at these shapes.
Eva says, "Hey, the first shape is the odd one out."
Tamati says, "No, Eva, the second one’s the odd thing out!"
Noah says, "No, it’s the third one!"
Jo says, "Well you are ALL wrong! The last one is clearly
the odd thing out."
Who is right and why? It will be the first one because the
first one has no other faces.

Maths problem

  1. Ravi enjoyed designing plans for a castle so much that he decided to have another go.
This time, instead of using cubes to make the
castle he has used cuboids. (Cuboids are also called rectangular
prisms).
The front view of his new castle is drawing A;
the top view is drawing B; and the side view is drawing C.
Build a castle to Ravi’s design using the cuboids.
What is the largest number of cuboids that you can use
in the construction of a castle from Ravi’s plans?B, because
it bigger then the others
What is the smallest number of cuboids that you can use in
the construction of a castle from Ravi’s plans? B and C,
because they both have 9
Can you build a symmetrical castle that is different
from any of the ones you have built so far? Yes
How many symmetrical castles can you build
to Ravi’s specifications? 2

Is it possible to design plans for a castle so that
it can only be built in one way (uniquely)?

Maths 2#

Carrie has glued some cubes together to make a large
solid cube with nine small cubes showing on a face.
She paints the large cube red.
How many of the original small cubes have:
  1. three faces painted red: 8 because each corner has 4 squares.
  2. two faces painted red: 4 in each corner
  3. one face painted red: 2 in each corner
no faces painted red: 1 in the middle of the square.

Maths

Simon has just discovered copycats. A square is a copycat because you can put four of them together to make another square.
Simon wonders if triangles and circles are copycats. What do you think? Yes because you can put four triangles together but you can’t do it with a circle.

Smart learners are creating a positive digital footprint.

A positive digital footprint, you have to think about what you post about your self online and what it says about you. Add understanding the difference between private and public information remember financial literacy licence number , If you try to delete something that you posted it will still be there forever. The information that you leave online will be tracked down, and when you share things online and you think it is funny and you probably be in big trouble, make sure that privacy settings set. You could reveal where you live. online privacy is very important, when you are sharing things to your friend he might share it to others, you have to be kind online . not saying negative comments to others post, if you are the person who is getting really bad comments help them stop it from happening . you help yourself online and you have to be very cyber smart when you are posting things online.

Treasure map - maths problem

Today I solve a problem about a treasure map.  How the map goes there is five square going out and five squares going down and all together there are 25 squares. So the problems says that there is three trees going out east, and four granite boulders that are going down south, and we have to find the treasure. Due to the treasure map the chest is half way between the rocks.

Puberty talk.

Today we had a puberty talk with Nicole, Nicole knows a lot about puberty and she came to talk all about it. I learnt a lot of different and interesting facts that I haven't learnt before. When you grow up and go through puberty you will experience a lot of things an order for you to go to adult hood.  We also learnt all about our body and what is inside it.  When we got older, our cells get even more larger and would not be able to divide and multiply. All the boys had a puberty talk in room 10 and we learnt so much about the boys body and what happens as you get older.  After that, we thanked her for coming and talking to us about puberty.

Touch tournament.

We arrived at school at 8:00 and wait for the rest of our touch teams. Once everyone arrived we quickly changed into our sports shirts and sat down in front of the hall. We waited for a few more people to come, finally, they arrived and got all of their stuff ready. We had a little talk about what we are gonna do at Mt Wellington war memorial park. Some of us went with one of our teaching aids. We did our school karakia and we walked to the bus. We settled on the bus and were on the road.

The bus stopped near the girl's and boys' bathrooms. All of us got out and we put all of our stuff away, we went down to the fields and had a little practice. We had a practice game to warm us up for our first game. We also did passing drills and a lot of running. After our warm-up, we were about to play our first game against Tamaki primary school. We were playing on the field 6B. Our starting team was, Mathew, Saia, kuea, Me, Valarie and Dwayne. Our team quickly went on the field and we set up our line up.

At the start, Tamaki primary tapped the ball and rushed up into their faces and touched them. Then we managed to turn the ball over, after a few turnovers we finally got our numbers out and we were able to score the first point of the match. Then they tapped the ball, after all, 6 touches we got the ball. We passed it out to Mathew and then he drew in the players and passed it to me on the wing and I hit the gas on the sideline and scored our second point. Tamaki primary had tapped the ball and they managed to get through our back line and score. The referee blew the whistle and the game was over. We did a little cheer for them and went back to have morning tea.

After morning tea, we waited on the sidelines watching our other team play against Glen Taylor, sadly they lost but they did well to get the ball to their try line. Our second was bai so we waited a little bit longer for our game. Next, we were against the Panmure district. We had our same starting line up. First Panmure district tapped it and ran into us. They passed it out and Mathew was so fast he ran up and got the intercept and scored our first point. Panmure district ran with the ball and they were making good meters. They were about to try but I got another runaway and I ran as fast as I could and then I scored. We got more scores after that, and Panmure scores to end it off. We had lunch after the game.

Next we had a little snack because our next game was going to be really hard, we were playing against Glen innes school.  When I was watching them play they were playing really good and I felt like we needed to do really good on this game.  We were all about to go on the field and I was really nervous that we might lose. We started the game and we were defending really well. They were making a whole bunch of meters and we couldn't keep up, they were drawing us in and managed to pass out to their fast wings. They'd scored about four points to nil. Valerie got a score and got two scores because when a girl tries it two points. We lost but we did really well  to put scores on the board but we needed to work more on our passing and making meters.

We played more games We won to Panmure bridge and we ended up loosing to Tamaki primary's other team and and loosing to Glen innes again. We got to watch our two year 5 and 6 teams play each other for first place. when there game ended we packed up all of our stuff and got it into the bus. We got into the bus and  drove back to school, we got off and went to the hall and took off our sports uniform and put it into the basket. We did really today and I couldn't ask for better team.

Genomics sharing.

We walked to Point England, as we were walking all of us were with their buddies talking about what they are going to share about genomics. When we got to Point England we walked in and sat next to the point England year seven and eights.  As we were waiting for glen innes primary to arrive us and Point England were singing songs. Once glen innes school arrived Point England did a waiata for us to welcome us into their beautiful school. After their waiata we split into our little groups and then we split into each classes. In the classes we introduced ourselves and talked about what learnt about genomics. Point knew lot's of facts about genomics but we also did really good, we showed our genomics books to them and Point England was really good. We also did a quiz but our group did not do quite well, we managed to get a few points. At the end of it we got our bags. We said our goodbyes and we walked  back to glenbrae.  I learnt so much from Point England

and I had Awesome time.
