Day 1 - Monday 9 September

It was morning when everyone had arrived at school. It was about 7:09 when me and my brother had walked to school. We waited at School for our mum to come with our luggage. She finally came and we quickly put our stuff in the bus. After that, we had wait for the remaining students to arrive. We were supposed to leave at 7:30 but instead we had leave after 7:30, because we could not leave them behind.

Then a few more people came and loaded their stuff. We all said our goodbyes to our parents and we gather all in the bus. Our bus driver Mickey introduced him self and told us our plan for today. He started driving out of Glenbrae School. When we left Glenbrae I felt really emotional because I missed my mum and my entire family. while we were on the road Mikey had informed us that we would stop at Whangarei for a break.

When we stopped at Whangarei everyone got of the bus and then they grabbed their bags. I sat at the benches and my lunch. For lunch I had packed Sushi, sandwich and some corntos chips. After lunch we back on the bus so that we would get to the Waitangi treaty grounds on time. Later on, we had made to our destination. We got out and that is where we met our camp instructors, Chris and Magnus.  

Then our tour guide for the Waitangi treaty grounds, came and she told us a little bit about her self and then she took us down to the Marae. Everyone took of their caps and hats and then we waited outside. Then they did a special welcome for us and the other visitors, we found ourselves a seat. Then Maori people did a special performance that entertained us and taught us about what they used and what they did with it. After that our Kapa Haka group performed a Haka for the Maori people. 

We also went to James busby house and did some activities. We also visited the Waitangi museum, it was so interest and fun because we had to find the answer to the question that were given, and then it was time leave the Waitangi treaty grounds.

We finally made it back to the bus. Mikey started driving, it was very long but we finally made it to the ferry that took us to Russell, from there we started driving to Orongo Holiday park. We took all of our Luggage out and waited for Chris and Magnus to tell us where our cabins are. My roommates were Mathew, Po, Viliami. T and Tui. When we finish unpacking we got ready to go and eat dinner. We had fish and chips for dinner and it was delicious. Me and my roommates returned to our cabins and had a goodnight rest.
