International day of sign language.

Today for current events, I have read that yesterday was the international day of sign language, where other people recognize the importance of sign languages around the world. Each year the international day has a different theme and this year is about sign language rights for all. This special day is all to remind people the importance of sign language. According to what I just read there are Approximately 72 million deaf people worldwide and their is 11,000 deaf people who use sign language in New Zealand. There are over 300 different sign languages around the world.  Take a look at this photo of Jacinda adern our priminister showing sign language.

  1. Kia ora Viliami, this is a wonderful post. Sign language is really important in our communities. We should learn some sign language this week to raise awareness about the importance of sign language.
